BREAKING: Justin Amash LEAVES Republican Party!

Glad he’s gone…

Rep. Justin Amash announced this morning in an opinion piece for The Washington Post that he was leaving the Republican Party.

Amash is the only Republican in Congress to call for President Trump’s impeachment.

From Reuters:

“Representative Justin Amash, a frequent critic of Republican President Donald Trump, said on Thursday that he was quitting the Republican Party, saying politicians have become more loyal to their parties than to the American people.”

“‘Today, I am declaring my independence and leaving the Republican Party. No matter your circumstance, I’m asking you to join me in rejecting the partisan loyalties and rhetoric that divide and dehumanize us,’ Amash, of Michigan, said in a Washington Post opinion piece published on the U.S. Independence Day holiday.”

CNN adds:

Rep. Justin Amash, the only congressional Republican who publicly argues that President Donald Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct, announced Thursday he is quitting the GOP.

“Today, I am declaring my independence and leaving the Republican Party,” Amash wrote in a Washington Post op-ed Thursday morning. “No matter your circumstance, I’m asking you to join me in rejecting the partisan loyalties and rhetoric that divide and dehumanize us. I’m asking you to believe that we can do better than this two-party system — and to work toward it. If we continue to take America for granted, we will lose it.”

Amash didn’t mention the President by name, but his decision to abandon the party comes after months of escalating criticism not just of the President but of his own colleagues for their failure to hold Trump to account, specifically for the actions detailed in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on the 2016 election and its aftermath. …

Michigan elected him as a Republican. Do they get to recall him so they can put another Republican in his seat?

Thank you Mr. Rino. We The People are disgusted with you, your words, and your sick and twisted performance. Let me give you some perspective Mr. Rino. The Clinton corruption empire is responsible for the deaths of more than 160 people who had the goods on the Clinton’s, yet no criminal investigation. And you, Mr. Rino, have the nerve to call for the impeachment of Donald Trump. You are disgusting. Where are your values?

So basically he just shed his sheep’s clothing…Dem no longer in disguise.

Good for you, but we are not sheep to follow someone who is as mindless as you are. But it is heartening to see someone willing, to be honest about how they feel.

Amash has left the Republican party to join the partisan Democrats in further tearing us apart. He ran as a Republican. If he leaves it he should be unseated in that Republican seat and a Republican put in their. His parents are well to do Palestine refugees. He is co-owner of a business in China that supplies his state tools. He vowed to fight Trump over the refugee ban. He is a traitor to the party. He needs to be put in the same dirtbag pile as Flake, Corker, Bush, McCain.

Anyone who leaves their political party should immediately resign or be removed from office. They no-longer represent the people who elected them, so step aside and let the people choose who they want to represent them. It does not matter if the new representative is from the same party or not, as long as they are voted in by the majority.

  • Greg

Good riddance to BAD rubbish. May you proudly take your place among the idiotic fools on the ash heap of history. May you also NEVER serve another moment in representation of ANY American. I hope your story becomes a case study in how to foul a political career.

  • Walter Johnston

This guys is a fake and a phony Rino a nd he will be gone after the next election. We have enough fakes in the Republican Party, we need to get rid of a few more while we are at it.

  • James

FYI, we don’t want you as an independent either! Resign & run as an independent if you think thats what your voters want.

  • gary

then we must have a new vote for his seat and he must leave congress he was voted in to represent the republicans and if he is no longer their representative he must go and a new one be elected !!

How is he a traitor? If a Democrat leaves the Democratic party for the Republican party does that make him a traitor? Whatever happen to freedom of choice? We’re all Americans and if we switch political parties that doesn’t make us traitors. You people make me sick. You can’t be from America. You sound more like fascist or communist members because you can’t accept the right of free American’s to choose freely.

He’s so right. Actually neither party is truly representative of America. It has all come down to partisan politics.

    Where are we headed America?

    • Rose

I would agree with so many others. If he was elected as you’re Republican didn’t he needs to step down if he chooses to no longer be a Republican. He was not elected as the end of hanging wires a democrat or a liberal or anything else. Xiao do yourself and everyone else a favor and leave Congress with some dignity. If you don’t willingly leave Congress after coming to this decision that mean he falsely entered into Congress as a fox in sheep’s clothing.

OK, Michigan put him out in the streets he does not belong in Congress.
